Since 2005, C E Ferulic has been built around one antioxidant combination: 15% pure vitamin C, 1% vitamin E and 0.5% ferulic acid. This is its first major reformulation, and it follows one principle: change nothing that works. That core is untouched. Three new actives now work alongside it.

Carnosine 0.3%
Carnosine is an advanced protective ingredient that helps maintain skin structure through a dual cellular action: anti-glycation and regeneration.
At the molecular level, structural proteins such as collagen undergo a process called glycation, in which sugars bind to them, causing supporting fibres to stiffen and become more fragile. At the same time, proteostasis, the cell’s quality control system responsible for managing damaged proteins, becomes less efficient over time. Carnosine acts directly at the source of this decline by functioning as a molecular shield. On one hand, it intercepts sugars to help prevent collagen from becoming rigid. On the other, it actively supports proteostasis, helping the cell identify, refold, and clear its damaged “faulty parts.” Together, these actions support cellular renewal and help maintain skin firmness and suppleness beyond the surface level action of conventional moisturizers.
Endophytol 1%
Endophytol is a patented L’Oréal active derived from dandelion that helps protect the skin from pollution through a dual cellular action: antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
At the molecular level, skin cells have AhR receptors that act like smoke detectors. When urban pollution activates these sensors, the cell triggers an aggressive defence response, producing large amounts of damaging free radicals (oxidative stress) and releasing inflammatory molecules associated with redness and irritation. Endophytol acts directly at the source by blocking these AhR receptors. By helping prevent this cellular alarm from being triggered, it helps limit inflammation, soothe the skin, and neutralize oxidative stress, offering broader protection against environmental exposure that conventional sunscreens do not address.
Eperuline 0.01%
Eperuline is an advanced protective active that helps maintain the skin’s repair capacity through a dual cellular action, supporting both energy and restructuring.
At the molecular level, renewal of the skin barrier requires a significant amount of energy, supplied by a coenzyme called NAD+. NAD+ serves as an essential fuel for sirtuins, enzymes that help maintain and repair cellular damage. Over time, NAD+ levels naturally decline, leaving sirtuins with fewer resources just as cellular damage begins to accumulate. Eperuline acts directly to help counter this metabolic decline. On one hand, it helps preserve NAD+ levels so cells can maintain this essential source of energy. On the other, by supporting sirtuin activity, it helps sustain cellular maintenance and reinforce the structure of the skin barrier beyond the surface level action of conventional moisturizers.

L-ascorbic acid, or pure vitamin C, is a powerful antioxidant, but its penetration into the skin requires highly precise conditions: a pure form, a strictly acidic pH and a targeted concentration between 10% and 20%. On its own, vitamin C oxidizes rapidly and loses its effectiveness when exposed to air. This molecular trio addresses the problem at its source. Ferulic acid helps stabilize the combination of vitamin C and vitamin E to prevent premature degradation. This highly precise combination provides up to eight times the skin’s natural photoprotection against UV-induced oxidative damage, creating a powerful cellular shield based on scientifically established proportions that have remained unchanged for more than twenty years.
